Friday 22nd January at 8pm in The Great Hall of Farnham Castle
Sheida Davis & Helen Reid
Sheida started to learn the cello at the age of four. In July 2000 she
graduated with first-class Honours from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama
and was awarded the Peter Latham Leaving Scholarship. She attended the
International Musicians Seminar in Cornwall and
the Sándor Végh International
Chamber Music
Academy in Prague. She has appeared at Wigmore Hall,
Symphony Hall Birmingham and on BBC television in a lecture series on Beethoven
by John Suchet. She also plays regularly for the charity Music in Hospitals.
Recent recitals with Helen include the National Portrait Gallery, St. James's
Piccadilly, St. John's
Smith Square and on BBC Radio 3's "In Tune" for the centenary of
Constant Lambert and Alan Rawsthorne. www.sheidadavis.co.uk
Helen first came
to public attention when she appeared on BBC2 in the National Keyboard Finals
of the BBC Young Musician competition in 1998. She has given recitals all
around in England and was
invited to Jordan to give a
recital in the presence of the Prime Minister, and has performed in Spain, Slovakia,
Hungary, Germany, Austria
and the Czech Republic. Helen is currently professor
of piano at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama and Trinity College of
Music Junior Department. She plays with the group Pianocircus. www.helenreid.net.

The Harris Quartet
Formed in 2004 by
Undergraduates at the University of Cambridge, the Harris Quartet is in increasing demand
as a Chamber Ensemble throughout the UK. As well as a busy schedule of
concerts and recitals, its members are also regular performers with many of the
country's leading orchestras, including the London Symphony, BBC Symphony,
Bournemouth Symphony, English Chamber and the Northern Sinfonia. The Quartet
has a partnership with the Michaelhouse Centre in Cambridge, where they perform a Concert
Series each Season. The quartet have performed at many prestigious venues
including Carpenter's Hall, West Road Concert Hall, The Fitzwilliam Museum
and Kettle's Yard. The Quartet has a strong association with contemporary
composer Adrian Brockless, and has recorded all his string quartet compositions.www.harrisquartet.co.uk

Claire Jones
Official Harpist to HRH Prince of
Wales
Claire graduated from the Royal College of Music with 1st Class Honours, and
has recently graduated as an MA Scholar from the Royal Academy of Music. She
was one of the first recipients of the Prince of Wales Advanced Study Awards
Scheme in 2007 and 2008, aimed at helping Wales’ most outstanding young
musical talent and was appointed Official Harpist to His Royal Highness, The
Prince of Wales in 2007. Claire has met and performed for members of the Royal
Family on more than 60 occasions including private performances for Her Majesty
The Queen and HRH The Prince of Wales at all the Royal residences. She
organised a choir of 60 harps for
HRH’s 60th birthday.
Future plans
include a tour to Dubai,
and the recording her 2nd album with the English Chamber Orchestra. Another
exciting project next year will be Claire’s recording and premiere
performance of a Royal commission - a brand new concerto for harp by Patrick
Hawes at Highgrove House in 2010. She will continue to be by appointment to His
Royal Highness The Prince of Wales for a further two years.

Pegasus
A
Celebration of St George

Pegasus at their last
visit in July 2008
Pegasus, one of London’s leading chamber choirs,
devotes most of its time to concerts for music societies and charities.
Television and radio work includes Radio 3, Radio 4, Classic FM, and the
Channel 4 premiere of Jonathan Dove’s opera “When She Died”,
about Princess Diana.
The choir’s
repertoire is very extensive, ranging from the Renaissance to the present day,
in over ten languages, from Czech to Quechua! Major sacred works include the
Monteverdi and Rachmaninov Vespers, Bach’s Mass in B Minor and the St.
John Passion, Vivaldi’s Gloria and many others.
Pegasus is
committed to exploring contemporary music, and has premiered works by leading
British composers, including John Tavener and Thomas Adès. The group
also sings a wide range of secular repertoire, from opera choruses to
folk-songs and jazz.
Pegasus are
regulars at the Tilford Bach Society, and we are delighted to welcome them
again.
